I've just completed my second course at Afrodesia and I've loved the whole experience. The structured nature of the course builds on what we learned the week before so I felt like I was making measurable progress in my movement, move catalogue, partner dancing and even learning a little Spanish along the way thanks to Rueda! The community is also excellent at Afrodesia, I've always been reluctant to join socials and extracurriculars but the core community here has really helped build my confidence and enjoy social dancing which is why I'm here in the first place. Jerry and Esther work well together as teachers because they're able to give lead and follower advice respectively, joining in the practice and giving targeted feedback as well. Plenty of smiles along the way too. Highly recommend!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly Recommended!!!!!!!! Before joining Esther and Jerry’s salsa classes, I was convinced I had zero coordination and couldn’t dance to a beat. It’s amazing how much progress you can make with consistent practice, patient teaching, and constructive feedback from such supportive instructors. What surprised me most is that the classes are about much more than just dancing. I’ve met some genuinely great people, shared plenty of laughs, and made friendships along the way. The atmosphere is welcoming, relaxed, and full of positive energy. Thursday evenings have genuinely become one of the highlights of my week. If you’re thinking about giving salsa a try, I couldn’t recommend Esther and Jerry’s classes more highly!

I started the beginners course in January not knowing what to expect. The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming, and Jerry and Esther are extremely patient and enthusiastic teachers. The only downside is that the time goes by too quickly!

I attended the beginners class and I really loved it. Jerry and Esther are great teachers, they are passionate about salsa and they really want you to do well. The environment is super friendly and safe, the lessons are very structured and detailed. So if you can commit to the lessons and you are passionate about learning salsa - this is the right place to start!

I am so glad to have signed up for Salsa, something that's quite out of my comfort zone. Jerry & Esther are amazing tutors, and the atmosphere in the class is amazing! Really pleased with how I am improving and will definitely continue to attend the classes for a long time! Its quite amazing how much you can learn in a span of 12 weeks. I can highly recommend others to try it out and see how much you enjoy it!

We initially weren’t sure about the length of the 14 week term but best thing we ever did. The course meant that we could learn in a slow progressive way which was a safe environment with like-minded people to have fun and progress on our salsa journey. Jerry and Esther are great teachers with great energy which adds to the whole experience.

I recently joined the beginners salsa dancing class, and I’m absolutely loving it! The instructors are friendly, patient, and make everyone feel comfortable—no matter your experience level. Each session is fun, energetic, and full of laughter, and I can already see my confidence growing on the dance floor. The music is fantastic, the atmosphere is welcoming, and it’s a great way to stay active while meeting new people. Highly recommend it to anyone who’s ever wanted to try salsa! 💃🕺

I have started my salsa journey in September and I am really enjoying the course. My begginer group is wonderful, everyone is doing their best to practice but also to have fun. Last but not least, the most important people - Jerry & Esther are very experienced trainers and love teaching, which I can see in their persistence, expaining again and again until we learnt it. I would say huge thank you for their patience and support during the course. 😊👏

I joined this class a few weeks ago, and I must say, my experience has been nothing short of fantastic. The atmosphere and mood is very positive, energetic and uplifting - I go to class after work and leave feeling more energetic than I did when I started the day! Jerry and Esther are amazing teachers, super supportive and so well-versed with their craft, that their tips and suggestions really make a difference. You could very well learn the Cuban Salsa anywhere, but I doubt it would be nearly as good an experience as at Afrodesia Salsa. I look forward to finishing my course and immediately enrolling into the next level!

They are looking after everyone, with honest care, no matter how experienced you are. The classes are good fun with weekly progress. I highly recommend it to everyone. I’m currently taking Cuban Salsa classes with Jerry and Esther, and I’m loving it so far. Esther and Jerry are lovely people. Not having to bring your own partner is a huge win for me since my partner isn’t into dancing, so I get to enjoy what I love.

Each class is so much fun! Jerry and Esther are such great teachers, they explain each move very thoroughly and you learn a new routine every lesson with lots of opportunities to practice. You become part of the salsa community very quickly with different social events and masterclasses. I look forward to the class every week.

I’ve been to a fair few salsa classes/schools around the country and this place is without doubt the best. Their approach to learning salsa is unique and I learnt so much faster than anywhere I’ve been before. The classes are fun & the teachers are top drawer. Can’t wait for the next level😁

"Jerry & Esther are excellent! Their patient, focused and fun teaching makes every class enjoyable. Great for introductory or more advanced salsa, and very good at keeping equal numbers of ladies and gentlemen (as far as possible) too. I’ve had a lovely experience learning with them!" I wrote those words four years ago and they are just as true today! Now that I am in a position to devote time to Cuban Salsa again, it was an easy decision to come back to Jerry and Esther's class! Highly recommended for anyone who wants to find their inner dancer!

Jerry and Esther are both great teachers and the course, as designed, worked really well for me. We worked together as a group but they always paid enough attention to us individually and gave useful feedback. It was definitely a lot of information to take in all at once but I really enjoyed the Beginners 1 course. Moving on to Beginners 2 in a few weeks and I’m super excited!

So you have some time to spare in the evenings and the prospective of learning to turn like a pro salsa dancer is enticing. You look up dance classes near you, but how do you decide through the options in front of you. This review should hopefully help! I was exactly in the same shoes few months ago. When I saw Afrodesia salsa I wanted to meet the teachers before making my mind up. Jerry & Esther invited me to see them before one of their regular classes on an evening. They were very friendly and approachable in taking me through what to expect and what would be a good class for me to join. It’s been 7 weeks into my beginner’s classes on Thursdays, and we had our first social just this Sunday. I felt quite confident improvising and practicing the dance moves learnt so far and had a lot of fun dancing with other fellow students from all levels. Jerry & Esther invite questions during their sessions, and breakdown every step they teach to the T. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the lessons are delivered at a good pace with plenty of opportunity every week to recap and practice. I’ve been to salsa classes in Scotland before, and when I moved to Reading it felt this was the natural thing to do while trying to make friends too! The students in my batch are quite friendly and are always smiling through their pain even if the steps are a bit too complex to master. In this shared comradery we enjoy our Thursday evenings completely aloof from our daily stress. I would go as far as to say that the classes are quite therapeutic and fun! But above all, in my opinion, the best feature about Afrodesia salsa is that Jerry & Esther are genuinely lovely people, super kind and humble, and patient with their students - characteristics which I feel are not easy to find in dance teachers. I feel what they have created at Afrodesia salsa is a place where anyone, regardless of their age or dance prowess (we literally have students ranging between 20’s and 60’s) can learn and enjoy the art of Cuban salsa.

Hello, I think one of the most important things about having the classes with Jerry&Esther is that they do not overload with tones of information and too many of steps to teach and practise . They go straight to the point on each one and they really simplify the processes so it makes it easier to learn. All the above goes along with having a lot of fun and the nice vibe and atmosphere in the classes. I do really recommend Afrodesia salsa as the place to get into Salsa dancing, not just because of the above but also because Cuban salsa is the one they taught, the original one!! I would like also to highlight how they are always willing to listen and answer questions at any time, this is very helpful and very much appreciated. Highly recommend Jerry and Esther who teach interesting and varied weekly classes with multiple levels to suit all abilities! Really friendly and fun atmosphere. I joined in 2019 and only left in 2024 due to relocating, I will certainly miss my Monday Cuban salsa fix with Afrodesia! Can’t recommend the classes enough 😊

The instructors are a great double act. They are relaxed whilst being effective teachers. The salsa dancing is such fun, but always challenging each week when you add another move. Best of all is the friendship of the other students.

Afrodesia salsa is amazing, you’ll fall in love with Cuban salsa and leave every class smiling ear to ear. The teachers Jerry and Esther are fantastic, they are able to explain beginner to advanced moves in a simple way step by step. I’m the opposite of a natural dancer yet they always have lots of patience for me and have progressed my skills to a place I didn’t think possible for me! All the other dancers there are warm and friendly, you’re guaranteed to make friends!

Nov2023 - 2 great years of learning salsa and I only regret not starting sooner. My love for it is all down to Esther and Jerry who have created a great environment, with beautifully structured classes, great learning techniques, whilst having a lot of fun. I went for dancing and got so much more, I’ve made beautiful friendships, took me out of my comfort zone, helps me escape my 9 to 5, and made me love Mondays :) Can’t recommend Afrodesia Salsa enough, and the feeling you get when you take what you’ve learned on the dance floor :) Thank you ❤️💃🏻💃🏻 *** Mar2022 - Nearly at the end of the 8 weeks beginners class with Afrodesia, and Thursdays don’t come quick enough since starting it. I was a bit nervous going on my own, but made friends from the first class, everyone is very supportive and welcoming. Esther and Jerry’s passion is contagious, I never want the class to end. Lots of tips, advice, individual feedback to help improve every week, and of course, lots of fun 🙂 Looking forward to the next ‘step’! 😜 Thank you both!

Have been learning Cuban Salsa for a couple of years with Afrodesia Salsa. Always a fun and friendly atmosphere in the class, Jerry and Esther are great. Active social scene to get out dancing too - chance to use all the moves and routines we learn in the real world. Highly recommend.

Cuban salsa. Although previoiusly a virgin to cuban salsa, I cannot recommend Jerry & Esther enough for their ability to teach both the fundamentals and advanced steps. They break things down really well for dancers to learn and understand moves. The atmosphere in the class is very friendly and relaxed. I have met so many amazing people.

Afrodesia is more than just dancing, it’s about friendships, laughter and it gives you a sense of community. Little did I know how much enjoyment I’d get out of it when I first joined in 2019. Now, I cannot imagine my week without the Monday classes and Rueda ! It’s the best way to start your week and the best therapy, in any kind of way. My love for Cuban Salsa and the people that I’ve met since joining, has grown immensely (the socials are marathons for me now, no breaks allowed !) and I’m forever grateful to Jerry and Esther for being such great teachers, meticulous about the technique and the routine, but also just amazing, welcoming and down to earth people ❤️

I believe the course Esther and Jerry offer in Afrodesia Salsa is very well designed! They only take a small group of people 50% men 50% women and follow a program for each level, whereas if you go anywhere else, unlimited people can show up to the class, every class is different people and there is no program, always copying the teachers, so I highly recommend this course if you're serious about learning salsa. They focus on the technique and teach you how to lead and you have to learn if you want to advance in your journey. It requires effort to pass each level, I managed to get to level 3 after 3 attempts of doing level 2, but it was definitely worth it, plus it's very fun, both Esther and Jerry are fun people and very friendly

I’m loving the salsa lessons! Jerry and Esther are excellent teachers, their relaxed classes are fun and it’s great when all the steps and moves come together! Definitely worth giving it a go - and you really don’t need to come with a partner as we all switch round whilst we learn the moves

If you want something fun and diverting to do Jerry & Esthers Salsa is for you! We started as complete novices and have had such fun - It has been one of the highlights of our week! It was easy enough to pick up, great bunch of other people, lessons progress in complexity over the course so that by the end of our 8 weeks we could do a series of moves! Try it and have fun!

We started learning Cuban salsa with Afrodesia over a year and a half ago now, and it is our favourite activity of the week! We look forward to lessons, there's a great community of dancers here and a lovely supporting atmosphere. We have made so much progress learning under Jerry and Esther's guidance, especially compared to how we used to learn (fortnightly salsa lessons at a club, that starts with a lesson and goes on as a party into the night). Would 120% recommend to anyone interested in salsa. Some amazing lessons and guidance here.

So glad I did the recent Body Movement salsa workshop! I had lost confidence after not dancing for ages, but Jerry & Esther are so lovely and such great teachers that I was soon back in my stride again! The steps were broken down clearly and the routine built up gradually, with plenty of challenges, great music, fun and laughter along the way. Can't wait for the next one!

My partner and I joined the classes after some research- the location was great for us and the price for the course was very affordable. We thought we can give it a go… just after the first Cuban Salsa Classes we knew that it is what we were looking for. Great atmosphere, a warm welcome, and great people 😊 Every week we gain new skills and really look forward to our classes to learn new moves and techniques. Once you try la Rueda- you fall for it 😉 I haven’t met someone like Esther and Jerry for a long time in my life. They love what they do, it is not a job- it is called PASSION- you can see it in their eyes. They are friendly, full of good vibes, professional, and VERY patient- and they don’t judge but instead, they do what they can to help as we are all different and we learn at a different pace. I would highly recommend it to anyone- no matter what age and what is your previous dancing experience.

Myself and my partner joined Afrodesia Cuban Salsa with two left feet. Esther and Jerry made us feel very welcomed into the class and with their patience and passion and after our initial 8 week course we are now able to master a few of the moves and we are dancing Cuban salsa! We both absolutely love the energy and buzz these classes bring to our evenings, we are continuing onto further classes with Afrodesia and look forward to learning more moves. I was recommended Afrodesia by a friend. I am very happy I signed up for the salsa classes. They are dynamic, fun and well prepared and taught. The speed is just right to learn and progress. Both teachers are amazing, they repeat instructions to ensure all is clear so we correct mistakes. They also arrange events. I highly recommend it

We had an amazing experience learning Cuban salsa with Jerry and Esther! The pace of the class was just right, each week layering in new steps and techniques. Thanks to them I feel like I have a solid foundation on which to build and can't wait to start the next level in September. They are friendly, approachable and made the whole experience very fun and welcoming, and the other people in the class were also lovely!
